Power Integrations TOPSwitch™ Series
The Power Integrations TOPSwitch™ family of ICs are off-line switcher devices that integrate a 700 V or 1000 V power MOSFET with a controller in an electrically isolated TO-220 package. These devices dramatically simplify the design of offline power converters by integrating the power MOSFET, PWM controller, thermal shutdown, fault protection, and other necessary functions into a single package.
TOPSwitch devices use an innovative design architecture that eliminates the need for a bias winding or external start-up components. The device operates in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and incorporates numerous protection features including thermal shutdown, input overvoltage protection, automatic fault recovery, and safe-restart. They are ideal for applications requiring a compact design with minimal external components, such as appliance controls, industrial power supplies, and consumer electronics.
